Once your social media hub is creating engagement with influencers, we consider adding paid advertising to scale up the community more quickly, as long as we believe the ROI will justify. PPC models in social media channels are in early stage and struggling to break through social media stickiness & inertia ie people aren’t searching for stuff they’re chatting with friends & colleagues.  That hasn’t stopped Facebook ads overtaking Yahoo as 2nd biggest platform in volume terms.
